Community Based Assessment
A Community-Based Assessment is an assessment of an individual’s unique strengths, resources, preferences, concerns, abilities and capabilities or is intended to determine if an individual is capable of performing the essential functions of a specific job. This allows individuals to determine if he or she would enjoy this type of work and/or would be capable of doing this work, with or without accommodation. The assessment will take place in a competitive job in the community, where individuals will be able to interact with co-workers.
A Job Coach will be on-site with the individual during the assessment to provide instruction, evaluate the individual’s interaction with peers, work behaviors, work tolerance, skills and abilities. Additionally, the individual will be paid minimum wages for hours worked during the assessment. Job sites are developed specific to the individual’s interest and referral source requests or recommendations.
